[Motivation] 
인생을 살다보면 힘이 빠지게 하는 상황이 많이 있다.
  1. 저멀리 주방에서 웨이터가 가져나오는 음식이 내 것인 줄 알았으나, 나를 슝 지나칠 때
  2. 전반전에 1점을 득점해 의기양양했으나, 후반전에 헤트트릭을 당하여 역전당해서 졌을 때
  3. 시험에서 A받을 것이라고 확신하였으나 성적표에 적힌 것은 B라는 것을 확인 할 때
등 말이다.
이렇게  ”의의양양했으나 힘이 빠지게” 하는 것을 영어로 어떻게 할까?
disappoint 또는 less confident라고 표현해도 되나, 좀더 생생한 표현이 있으니….

영어표현에는 유독 뱃사람들 표현이 많이 있는데, 이 상황 역시 뱃사람들이 쓰던 말에 유래됐다.
“잘만 불다가 꺼져버린 바람앞에서 멈춰버린 돛단배”를 떠올리면 이 표현이 확실히 머리에 기억될 것이다.
